faq (frequently asked questions)
Wait a minute, you mean you're not married?
Hard to believe but true! We enjoyed the courtship process so much, we wanted it to last! Basically, we've been going steady for 12 years.
Are you really driving a Volkswagen Camper van across the U.S. and then directly to your wedding?
Yes!
Really?
Yes! And, you can follow us along the way by visiting the road trip blog!
What if it rains at the Old Manse?
We're members of the Rain is Good Luck camp. We can't control the weather but we've got it covered with a great big tent and a ready supply of umbrellas to shelter you on your way to the loo and back.
Say more about the deal with the plates...
Shamelessly, we've stolen the plate ritual from a farm dinner called Outstanding in the Field. Basically, everyone helps create a colorful, homespun table by bringing a plate from home to use during dinner. Plates will be rinsed and waiting for you when you're ready to depart. Don't want to bother or realize yours' are sitting on the kitchen counter when you're miles from home? No worries. We'll have extra plates on hand. Worried about transporting one from your daily set? Feel free to find a thrift shop gem and leave it behind. We'll re-donate it after the wedding.
What are you wearing?
There'd be no mystery if we told you what we'll have on, but the rumors about us coming dressed as Sonny and Cher are just that, rumors. To help guide you, think festive Summer Party. We'd love for you to look good but feel comfortable. It could be hot! For menfolk, while we do ask that shorts, jeans, tees or polo shirts remain in your closets, we really do mean it when we say ties are optional. Want to go formal with a tie for the ceremony and ditch the tie later? Sounds good to us. Ladies, you probably have more options than the guys, except when it comes to shoes. Be prepared for grass surfaces and a short walk on gravel to the restrooms. If you're attending the SF or CHI events, we'll send info to you about dress via email.
